Introduction

The final and most divine day of Chhath Puja, known as Usha Arghya, marks the completion of one of India’s most spiritual festivals.
After three days of fasting, prayer, and devotion, devotees gather before sunrise to offer Arghya (water offering) to the rising sun, thanking Surya Dev and Chhathi Maiya for their blessings. 🌾🙏

As part of our Bihar Chhath Puja Series, we reached the ghats of Muzaffarpur, Bihar, before dawn to witness this sacred moment of faith, light, and divine energy.

The Significance of Usha Arghya

• The Usha Arghya offering is made to the rising sun (Usha Kaal) symbolizing new beginnings, renewed energy, and gratitude.
• After observing a 36-hour nirjala fast (without food or water), devotees break their fast after sunrise.
• It signifies the victory of light over darkness and marks the completion of the four-day worship to Surya Dev and Chhathi Maiya.
• Devotees pray for family well-being, prosperity, and purity of the mind and soul.
