Delhi to Sariska at Night (Rain Drive) via KMP & Delhi–Mumbai Expressway | Off-Road + 4×4 Thar

This episode kicks off our Delhi to Sariska road trip during the rainy season. We started late evening and hit KMP Expressway and the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, enjoying smooth stretches, rain reflections on the blacktop, and carefully paced driving through patches of low visibility.

Our convoy had three cars: Mahindra Thar (4×4), Hyundai Creta, and Mahindra Scorpio N. After the highways, the route turned forest-side and muddy, where the Thar’s 4×4 made the fun (and safety) difference. Somewhere along the slushy trail, a tiny snake crossed our path nature’s little reminder that we were truly in the wild.

We wrapped up the night at Guldaar Sariska a peaceful retreat to recharge before tomorrow’s adventure.

This is Part 1. In Part 2, we’ll do a Forest Safari in our own car—don’t miss it!

Route & Conditions

  • Start: Noida (late evening)
  • Expressways: KMPDelhi–Mumbai Expressway
  • Season: Monsoon (wet roads, occasional spray/fog)
  • End: Guldaar Sariska resort (late night)

Road condition highlights:

  • Fresh monsoon showers added a cinematic sheen to the expressways.
  • Limited visibility in segments kept speed moderated, hazard lights off (except when absolutely necessary), and maintained safe braking distance.

Into the Forest: Mud, Ruts & 4×4 Fun

Post-highway, the final approach turned narrow and forest-lined. Rains made the mud slick, so we engaged 4×4 High on the Thar.

  • Steady throttle, no sudden braking.
  • Follow the rut lines; avoid wheel-spin.
  • Spotter guidance helps at night.

And yes, that little snake that slithered across our path was the cutest (and quickest!) cameo of the night. We gave it space and rolled on.

Our Convoy & Setup

  • Mahindra Thar (4×4): All-terrain hero for slush and shallow ruts.
  • Hyundai Creta: Comfy mile-muncher for the expressway sections.
  • Mahindra Scorpio N: Confident stance, solid highway + rough-road composure.

Gear we carried: Tyre inflator, tow strap, headlamps, triangle reflectors, portable jump starter, rain covers, and a basic first-aid kit.

Stay: Guldaar Sariska

We checked into Guldaar Sariska for the night—calm ambience and good rest before the safari day. If you’re arriving late, call ahead for a smooth check-in.
